Continuing the successful tradition of Annual Summer Symposium by APPNA MERIT, our 2020 Symposium was held virtually online due to cancellation of summer meeting from pandemic. Keeping the momentum of our highly successful collaborative March 2020 meeting in Pakistan with design workshops on Capacity building of primary care in Pakistan; We kept the focus of the Annual Summer Symposium again on Family Medicine and primary care, in addition to providing brief updates on multiple ongoing MERIT projects. Just like the March meeting, we collaborated with the Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination with Dr. Zafar Mirza, the Special Adviser to Prime Minister as the keynote speaker; as well as the Chairman of <b>Higher Education Commission Dr. Tariq Banuri as the Chief Guest and Dr. Faisal Sultan from Prime Minister's Focal person on COVID-19 and member of PM task force on health reforms as the Guest of Honor. We successfully announced the collaboration with initiative from Ministry of National Health Services called Yaran e Watan which is a platform created to facilitate and collaborate with the health care organizations for education and awareness and research and healthcare in Pakistan. APPNA MERITs collaboration with Yaran e Watan include MERIT CoVID webinar Series (initially daily and now weekly on Sunday) MERIT Case discussions on critical care patients and our new initiative of MERIT Nursing Webinar series on critical care nursing. We had an extremely prestigious panel consisting of Vice Chancellors of King Edward Medical University Professor Khalid Masud Gondal T.I., Rawalpindi Medical University Professor M. Umar, Khyber Medical University Professor Arshad Javaid, Jinnah Sindh Medical University Prof. Tariq Rafi and Nishtar Medical University (representation), Professor Mustafa Kamal Pasha. We want to acknowledge here passing of such a great supporter and champion of medical education in Pakistan who was willing to attend the meeting despite being sick in the hospital and kind enough to send someone to represent him in the meeting. We also had presence Professor Gohar Wajid, the Regional Director for WHO covering Pakistan and many thought leaders in Family medicine including Professor Greg Raglow who was one of the founding faculty in Aga Khan University family medicine department along with Professor Waris Qidwai. We also had the presence of our sister organizations in England, president of APPNE (Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe) Dr. Amir Burney and president of AAPP (Australian Association of Pakistani Professionals) Dr. Majid Naeem Gondal and his team. We also had a strong presence of the nursing leadership from Pakistan especially Professor Rafat Jan, Chief of nursing at Aga Khan University and former President of Pakistan Nursing Council. We had committee reports towards the end including committees of Psychiatry by Co-Chair of APPNA MERIT Professor Waqar Azeem and committee on Research Development as well as Dermatology Professor Babar Rao, Co-Chair of APPNA MERIT. Other committees that presented reporting to the critical care including critically care nursing by Dr. Noor Mahal Kabani and Dr. Mohsin Zaman, Critical Care Case discussions by Dr. Iqbal Ahmad and his team, Nephrology by Dr. Avais Masud, Neurology represented by the chair of APPNA MERIT Dr. Shahid Rafiq and Co-Chair Dr. Danish Bhatti. Cardiology was also represented by Dr. Maryam Moten, President of APCNA and our own President Elect of APPNA Professor Rizwan Khalid. This successful APPNA MERIT symposium highlighted the ongoing various projects, a strong team with depths in multiple sub specialties as well as our ongoing strong focus in Family Medicine, Nursing development especially the Critical Care nursing and Research development in Pakistan as well as our strong collaboration with our sister Ex-pat organizations in UK, Australia with whom we have signed MOU, as well as our partnership with multiple institutions in Pakistan including government institutions of National Ministry of health and Higher Education Commission. We're extremely thankful for our Chief Guest Dr. Tariq Banuri for attending the whole two hour session and following the discussion and suggestions by all the esteemed panelists and looking at our committee ongoing work. This momentum will be kept ongoing with our various projects and we intend to do another follow up comprehensive meeting in the winter either virtually or live.
