Dear APPNA Members,

Medical education in Pakistan and US/Canada is a primary focus in 2020. APPNA MERIT for the first time in APPNA's history has arranged an international conference in collaboration with Pakistan Higher Education Commission ( HEC) and Federal Health directorate. This conference will focus on the critical need of the time in Pakistan, Family Medicine and Disease Prevention. The roll out of Government Health Insurance Cards makes availability of trained primary care physicians especially urgent, if such universal health initiatives are to succeed.

Over a two days conference, APPNA physicians will brainstorm with Pakistan's healthcare and education leaders and stakeholders to develop Family Medicine and primary care as a separate discipline across the country, applying best practices from around the world.

We invite all medical professionals who are interested in this topic to be part of this historic and important project, in particular those who have experience in developing Family Medicine programs. We especially invite Family Medicine academician in US/Canada to join APPNA MERIT to make this conference and the initiative to develop Family Medicine in Pakistan a huge success.

Alumni Coordinators: We need at least one coordinator from each alumni organization to help facilitate and drive the collaboration with their alma mater (e.g. Khyber, RMC, KEMU, DOW, Nishtar, AIMC, FMC, JSMU, QAMC, FJMC, LMC, etc.). Please send nominations to APPNA President with a short bio and write-up on how the nominee(s) can help drive the training initiative in their alma mater.

FM Academicians: Please nominate yourself if you are a Family Medicine academician and can help participate in and steer the core FM group in APPNA MERIT. The various participating educational institutions will need help with curriculum and training design, short-duration visiting faculty, examiners, etc...
